In beginning a study of the I Am statements in the gospel of John, we go back to Exod. 3 and the original I Am That I Am statement of God to Moses. In a great mystery, this means that God simply always has been – and he always shall be – from everlasting to everlasting thou art God. In his ministry, Christ hearkens back to Abraham, and even before Abraham was – I AM!
