While poverty gets a lot of attention in political and cultural realms, we attempt to consider poverty from the word of God. Jesus affirmed that we would have the poor with us until his second coming, and poverty would not be eradicated by social systems in this world. There are also blessings of giving and seeing the Lord’s providence that would be diminished if there were no poor to be able help by generous giving.
