Song of Solomon

From October 2019 to February 2020, at Macedonia PBC Pastor David preached through the Song of Solomon. This romantic musical in the word of God displays the love of Christ to his bride, the church, and the necessity for the church’s fervent love back in return to our beloved Husband, Jesus Christ.

Making Sense of Suffering – Elder Michael Gowens

Open Doors

These messages were delivered by Pastor David on the Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from July to September 2019 surrounding his preaching trip to Kenya in July 2019. God sovereignly opens doors for the gospel to be spread but we also must be willing to press through those doors despite the many adversaries that might oppose us. We look at examples in scripture of God’s open doors, how we are to press through those open doors, and then also our necessity to pray for open doors for the gospel.

Book of Ruth

From May to August 2019, Pastor David at Macedonia PBC preached through the book of Ruth. This amazing story of God’s providence shows us how God is oftentimes working behind the scenes in our lives with his unseen hand of providence, even unknown to us at the time.

Charity and Agape Love

These messages were delivered by Pastor David on the Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from February to June 2019. There are multiple types of love addressed in the New Testament Greek scriptures, with the primary two being “phileo” (a brotherly affection) and then “agage” (a self-sacrifical love). The Greek word for love “agape” is oftentimes (but not always) translated in our KJV bibles as “charity”. This “agape love” can be defined as “a willing, sacrificial giving of one’s self for the benefit of another without the thought of return”. Christ exhibited this willing sacrificial agape love in sacrificing himself for our sins, not based upon any condition we would meet, but based solely upon his free and sovereign grace. Therefore, because of the amazing agape love that God has exhibited upon us, God now calls us to exhibit that same self-sacrificing agape love in our lives – to love others unconditionally and sacrifice for their benefit without the thought of return.

A Glorious Resurrection – Exposition of 1st Corinthians 15

From November 2018 to February 2019, on Wednesday nights Pastor David preached through the 15th chapter of 1st Corinthians. This chapter gives us the most in-depth vision of the resurrection of the dead in the New Testament and strengthens our hope looking towards the second coming and the resurrrection at the last day.

Exposition of John 6

These messages were delivered by Pastor David on the Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from August to November 2018. In John 6, after performing two notable miracles, Jesus begins to unapologetically preach the sovereignty of God in salvation. Jesus preached the doctrines of grace and many went away, being offended by their depravity and God’s sovereignty. However, the apostles saw these beautiful truths as the words of eternal life and rejoiced in this message. I trust we can rejoice in these truths of God’s sovereignty in salvation as the words of eternal life.

The Scriptures

The scriptures should play a very integral role in the life of every child of God. In this series of messages delivered by Pastor David on the Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from January to April 2018, we consider the priority and necessity of the scriptures in our discipleship. After laying the foundation for the divine inspiration and divine preservation of the word of God and the use of the King James Bible, we consider practical points about how do we actually study and meditate on the Bible. God inspired and preserved the scriptures for our benefit and edification here in this world, but do we really love and delight in the word of God to take full advantage of the amazing blessing of the scriptures that we have been given? Hopefully, these messages can exhort us to become more devoted to the study of God’s word.

Objections to Absolutism

Man’s nature tries to deflect blame for his own wicked actions to such a degree that some reach an erroneous conclusion that God has decreed all events that have or will occur in the world, which is commonly known as the doctrine of absolute predestination. Absolutism, when followed to its logical conclusion, will incorrectly make God the source of all the wickedness we see in the world around us, which is entirely contrary to the holy nature of God revealed in scripture. It’s an entirely incorrect worldview that tries to blame God for evil and wickedness that is in the world solely by the sin of man. On the contrary, any goodness and any measure of peace we find in this world is attributed to God alone. In summary, man gets all the blame for the wickedness of this world, and God gets all the glory for the goodness and blessings that we see in the world around us.  In these radio messages from the Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast delivered from October to December 2017, Pastor David details the errors of the doctrine of absolutism, while also giving the proper perspective of God’s overruling providence in the lives of His children.
