The sword of Goliath was probably larger than a normal size man, and was a great reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness to deliver his people from their enemies by the Lord’s sword, not by man. Goliath’s sword should have been a memorial to embolden David’s faith to trust the Lord to protect him from Saul, but he made the worst possible decision to flee to the Philistines in Gath. We should always trust the Lord to defend us against our enemies with his sword, not our own.
